Perfect for a couple escaping reality

The Academy is huge and you are literally stepping into history. The room was beautiful and very clean, especially that large claw footed tub-my wife and I soaked in there after a long day, really made it special.

It wasn’t cheap but still manageable.

    delicious restaurant
    historic venue
    dated decor
    slow service
    limited amenities

Stepping into this historic venue was a delightful experience. The restaurant serves delicious, affordable meals, making each dinner enjoyable during my week-long stay, especially the breakfast options. The clawfoot tub added a luxurious touch, and the grounds were fascinating to explore. Unfortunately, the room's decor felt a bit dated, and the check-in process was slower than expected.

    claw-foot tub
    sun terrace
    awkward check-in

We loved soaking in the large claw-foot tub and relaxing on the balcony while admiring the amazing antiques. The sun terrace was a perfect spot to unwind with a book, and the cozy atmosphere made it feel like home. Just a heads up, check-in was a bit awkward, but it didn’t take away from our overall experience! 😊

Charming Stay with Room for Improvement

Our one-night stay was memorable for the unique charm of the Queen Room, but the check-in process felt disorganized. The nearby candy and ice cream shop was a delightful surprise! Future guests should bring extra moisture absorbent bags for comfort and check with the staff for clear directions on arrival.

The claw foot tub was simply amazing! I sat back and soaked in history. 🤩 The musty smell was a bit off-putting, though. Overall, a great stay with fantastic food choices.

    delicious meals
    charming bathroom
    great shower pressure
    confusing check-in
    musty odor
    lack of communication

I stayed in the Queen Room for a week. The restaurant on the property impressed me. Every meal was delicious and fairly priced. I loved the variety for breakfast and looked forward to dining there each evening. The claw foot tub added a touch of charm, and the shower had great pressure—no cold surprise showers! My room was clean and cozy, but there was a noticeable musty smell due to the building's age. A daylight bulb above the bathroom mirror would help with makeup. A more effective bathroom door solution is needed for privacy. even a curtain would suffice. Communication at check-in was confusing, as there isn’t a clear desk area. I found myself wandering in the candy shop until I got assistance. Checkout was equally awkward, needing better organization. The owners seemed distant and didn’t acknowledge me, which felt off. The historical ambiance and interesting grounds made for a unique stay, though. I’m planning to return to try the famous cinnamon rolls we missed this time.

I adored my stay! The claw-footed tub in our Queen Room was a luxurious treat that made evenings utterly relaxing. Plus, sipping coffee on the balcony while soaking in the history surrounding us was nothing short of magical.
